The medium of the BSA/FAS (Bund Schweizer Architekten / Federation of Swiss Architects) and of the VSI.ASAI (Vereinigung Schweizer InnenarchitektInnen / Association of Swiss Interior Architects)
A continuation of: "Das Werk" (1914 - 1942), "Werk" (1943 - 1976), "werk-archithese" (1977 - 1979). See also "Die Schweizerische Baukunst".
The journal was founded in 1914 by the Federation of Swiss Architects and the Swiss Werkbund. From 1943 - 1976 it was the organ of the Schweizerische Kunstverein too (Swiss Art Association). After a short term collaboration from 1977 - 79 with Niggli Verlag Sulgen the journal merged in 1980 with the architecture magazine "Bauen + Wohnen" (Bauen + Wohnen GmbH) - founded in 1942 - to the publishing partnership Werk, Bauen + Wohnen (until 1999).
"werk, bauen + wohnen" appears ten times annually and is among the most important specialist publications for architecture and town planning in German-speaking Europe; around 80 pages with summaries in both English and French.
